Michelle Dettrick-Janes
Occupational Therapist, Yeppoon
Michelle graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) in 1997.
In 2018 Michelle graduated with a Master of Applied Science
(by research) also from the University of Sydney.

Michelle has worked in clinical practice in Rockhampton, London, Sydney and Yeppoon in inpatient, community and outreach healthcare settings. Michelle has worked in mental health, surgical aftercare, aged care, emergency quick response, neurological rehabilitation, community health and with children requiring specialist supports.
​
​
While completing her research degree, Michelle worked as a research assistant through the University of Sydney, the University of Queensland and Central Queensland University, where she has also worked as a casual academic. Michelle published two journal articles in peer reviewed occupational therapy journals (2016 and 2017) and presented her handwriting research at national conferences in Adelaide and Melbourne.

Michelle has two boys, aged 14 and 12 years and lives with her family in Cooee Bay, Yeppoon.

Subcontractor therapy assistants regularly engaged so that music, drawing, painting, sports, cooking and horse riding can be offered to individuals or within small groups.

-handwriting analysis and training
-toilet training
-management of anxiety in relation to occupational activities
-working with children with ASD, demand avoidance profile.

Liaison with schools, doctors, other therapists, support workers and community services as required.

Adults
​Occupational therapy services including:
-equipment prescription
-rehabilitation and task training
-home modifications
-task modification
-help to access and practise using assistive technology.
​Home visits.
Comprehensive NDIS Assessments and Reports, Aged Care Reports, Reports required for other funding sources.
Therapy assistants regularly engaged so that art, music, exercise, cooking as well as horse riding can be offered to individuals or within small groups.
